For years, I have been mesmerized by the beauty and mystery of the island landscape - not the line where land meets water, but the dense island jungle. The intense colors of the simplest of leaves, the liana vines drooping from tree branches, the carnivorous pitcher plant that emits a foul odor in order to attract its fill of insects, the staghorn fern which uses a larger tree as a host, and the short-lived hibiscus bloom - these amazing plants and their environments have captivated my mind.
